At the outset, there is only a simple movement, the coming and going of a step, a “going to” and a “coming back.” A step that is repeated relentlessly, until exhaustion. Until it decomposes, transforms and stops. Until it opens up new fields of perception. Until I let go and dive into the deepest layers of the unconscious, to experience the continual rebeginning of present time. This leads to a projection of the past into the future, a flashback of the future already here. The step screams, it sends my imagination into a spiral, hypnotizing me and carrying me away. I look for strategies to keep it from erasing me, so that through this experience I might be attentive to the environment, to the musical score, to you, to myself. So that it can become the net of our worries and hopes.
