Masterclass

The choreographer-performer Zora Snake, as his name suggests, loves to poison spaces. His work is deeply linked to the ‘shedding of the snake’s skin’ as a process of exposing the deadly stereotypes and prejudices of our time. His twists and distortions bite into the norm. He says of himself that ‘Space is a delivery room. The newborn referred to in the work is a spirit.” Here, the choreographer weaves an image of a space where anything can be born through his infinite, multifaceted care, like the stars in the sky: living, shooting, or unpredictable. The workshop offered by Zora Snake is an invitation to share in his creative process. A process that draws from within the bodies, “the silent loudspeakers”, in the form of “gestures that reveal”. In Zora Snake’s work, what moves us through space is a “cosmic energy”. Every gesture, movement, dance, and shift of the body is a transcription of the mind through the writing of the body. It is in this venom that, for Zora Snake, the body is a cathartic chalk that writes the vision of the universe on a blackboard.
